The Nottingham Declaration
We have signed the Nottingham Declaration.
This has been signed by more than 300 English councils and recognises the central role of local authorities in leading society's response to the challenge of climate change. To find out more about the Nottingham Declaration please visit the Energy Saving Trust website.
Clean and Green Ipswich - Corporate Plan
The first goal in our Corporate Plan is to create a 'Clean and Green Ipswich'. You can read more in the Corporate Plan PDF:
This involves many different service areas, such as the Environment Strategy team, the Cleansing team, the Waste and Recycling team, and the Wildlife and Education Rangers. We also work closely with partners across the county and the region, such as CRed and the Greenest County campaign.
Staff Green Travel Plan
When we moved to our new headquarters, Grafton House, in September 2007, we introduced a Green Travel Plan.
This led to the introduction of staff car parking charges, discounted public transport tickets and participation in Cyclescheme to encourage staff to travel to work using a more sustainable mode of transport.
Carbon Management Plan
In 2008 we were accepted on the Carbon Trust's Local Authority Carbon Management Programme. As part of this we created a Carbon Management Plan which was accepted at Executive Committee on 31st March 2009:
