Opening times

There is no need to book for casual swimming, but we do recommend that you call our recorded daily timetable to check opening times on 01473 433655 or download the current swimming timetable here.

Occasionally, we may have to limit public swimming to one hour during very busy periods when we reach our full bather load. However, this does not happen very often and we will advise you when you arrive before you pay for admission if this situation occurs.

Sometimes special events, such as galas are held at the pool which can affect our normal timetable and result in one or more of the pools closing for some or part of the day. The sauna/steam room also closes in the event of galas.

Changes to programme

Please note that on 11th and 18th May the 'Dolphinator' slide sessions will be replaced with a family float session.

Swimfit at Crown Pools

Hit the lanes with Swimfit and you will never want to take a dip without it! Lane swimming has been transformed, with added structure to motivate you to go further and get more out of your swim workout. With our expert poolside support, you can be assured you will get the ultimate swim every time.

Great East Swim

50+ sessions

Every Tuesday afternoon between 14:30-16:25 a double lane is reserved for our swimmers aged over 50 years. Public swimming is also available at this time.

Crown Pools features three separate pools:

Competition Pool

• Eight lane 25-metre pool
• Aqua fitness classes
• Swimming lessons
• Regional or national swimming events
• Spectator seating and full timing equipment/scoreboard.

Leisure pool

The ideal facility for families and children.

• Beach area;
• Freddy the Frog slide;
• Dolphinator slide (programmed);
• Mushroom Fountain shower.

Teaching pool

An ideal introduction for babies and toddlers with parents.

• Single depth pool of 0.75m;
• Slightly warmer than other pools.

Junior members (PJ's) can book sessions in the gym weekdays from 15:00-16:00 and 16:00-17:00. They can also access the gyms during normal opening times at weekends and no booking is required.

If you want to swim regularly, more than once a week for example, our monthly memberships offer the best value for money. You can also pay per visit.

Admissions policy

Children under the age of 8 years must be supervised by a responsible adult over the age of 16. One adult can only supervise two under 8's at any one time. The adult must accompany the child/children in the water at all times.

We recommend that non-swimmers over 8 years old are also supervised.

There is no minimum age at which you can bring babies into the water, although we do recommend they have had their first immunisation injections.

Creche

We have a creche at three of our centres including Crown Pools, which is voluntarily registered with Ofsted and staffed by trained creche leaders. Creche places can be booked seven days in advance with an I-card and the price for creche places are included in our monthly memberships.

If you do not have a monthly I-card membership the cost is £2.20 per visit.

Please note: All children must be registered on their first visit to the creche. Children must be under 5. Maximum 2 hour stay for any child. Adult I-card monthly memberships includes up to two children.
