Central Area Committee
What's on in Central
With Councillor Julian Gibbs, Chair
Councillor Julian Gibbs is the new Chair of the Central Area Committee.
Councillors from Alexandra, St Margaret's and Westgate wards serve on the Central Area Committee.
Central Area Update
So far the Central Area Committee budget has been used to fund the removal of a bench at St Matthews Roundabout, removal of unused planters, lighting improvements in Christchurch Park and new Christmas lights on Fore Street.
The Police came along to a recent meeting and gave an update on crime in the area. The Jubilee Play Area still has a dispersal order on it, but anti-social behaviour has decreased recently. The Skate Park is a priority but has had no reported crimes recently.
Residents raised their concerns about vehicles parking in the Norwich Road and junction of Richmond Road area. The Committee responded that the Borough Council has had a meeting concerning these issues and is looking into the problem.
There were residents concerned with the possibility of The Emperor public house on Norwich Road being changed to a Tesco. Plans have been submitted to the Council but they have yet to go to a Planning Committee meeting.
17 litter bins were requested from the Area Committee budget at a cost of £3,888 and the Committee agreed to fund the request. There is £33,320 left in the budget.
The next Central Area Committee meeting takes place on Thursday 25th July 2013 at 19:00pm, at Holly Lodge Baptist Church, Bramford Lane IP1 4DF. All welcome.
