This sculpture is just out of the town centre at Sainsbury's, which is close to the river, just before it becomes tidal.
John Ravera was born in Surrey in 1941 and trained at Camberwell School of Art. He works mainly in clay for bronze and is a Past President of the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
John has public monuments scattered over London and the home counties, including the much admired 'Family Group' near Battersea Bridge, as well as works in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
His other Ipswich sculpture is the Spirit of Youth, commissioned by Churchmanor Estates, in St Mary's Court off Museum Street.
