The project so far
The Ipswich Art School gallery has the support of renowned artist Maggi Hambling, who was a former student at the school. A major fund-raising campaign has been established and a Board made up of local businesses and community leaders has been established to steer the future of the gallery.
In addition to a gallery, the facility will be used as an educational resource for schools and for further education and degree students at Suffolk New College and University Campus Suffolk.
The Council also intends to bid for Heritage Lottery funding for a multi-million pound refurbishment of a proposed cultural hub in High Street, bringing together the new facility, Ipswich Museum and the New Wolsey Studio.
Further information on what has happened so far is available in the Arts - development news archive and in a recent article on the BBC Suffolk website.
