Council Wins Award for Employees Generosity

A Bronze Quality Mark has been awarded to Ipswich Borough Council for their efforts in this year's Workplace Giving Scheme.
The scheme involves staff giving a chosen amount to charity every month directly from their pay packet. Even the taxman pays - through tax-free donations.
Workplace Giving is growing - despite the recession the charity has seen a 50% increase in companies adopting the scheme over the past year.
The Council's Deputy Leader, Councillor John Carnall, said: "I am delighted that we've got this award. It goes to show that Borough staff dig deep to help others. This is a simple yet effective scheme and I am very proud of our employees."
Lee Grant, Tax-Effective Giving Project Manager at the Institute of Fundraising, added: "Payroll giving really is showing its strength in this recent period of economic uncertainty. We are delighted that so many employers have taken part and achieved the high standards."
