The free Maritime Ipswich Festival is coming to the Waterfront this weekend (18th and 19th August).
The Waterfront will be a stunning picture of vessels old and new, large and small, while quayside entertainment will keep the family amused. Restaurants, bars, and cafes will join in to showcase the town.
The festival starts at 10:00 on Saturday and goes on till 22:00 that night, with a superb fireworks display at 21:30. On the Sunday, it runs from 10:00 till 18:00.
The Ipswich Beer Festival is also taking place during the Maritime celebrations, located in marquees on Orwell Quay next to University Campus Suffolk.Nearby, St Peter's by the Waterfront is open Monday to Friday throughout the summer, allowing people to view this beautiful building and its historical displays. On Sunday 19th the church will host a craft fair as part of Maritime Ipswich.
And look out for some mini-museums during the festival: the Ipswich Maritime Trust has taken oversome vacant units across the town centre to display information about Ipswich's rich Waterfront history.
