Pledge on roadworks

Ipswich Borough Council is urging National Grid to compensate businesses in Fore Street hit by the current roadworks being carried out by the utility company.
The Council has also pledged to struggling businesses that they will not be chased for immediate payment of business rates and is instead working on deferred payment plans. The Council does not set business rates - it collects them on behalf of the Government.
A new marketing drive to promote the Fore Street part of the town centre will also be discussed with businesses and partners.
