Countdown to Christmas
Published Friday 14th December 2012
Shoppers are expected to flock to the town centre on the penultimate weekend before Christmas.
With cheaper car parking, Christmas shows in full swing and a top retail offer, Ipswich looking as pretty as a picture under its new lights and Cornhill tree offers cheaper car parking, free park and ride on Sundays and festive entertainment in full swing.
Increased footfall in the town centre's national and independent shops will give the local economy a seasonal boost.
Ipswich Borough Council has slashed prices in its Crown car park - ideal for the shops, Crown Pools and the Museum - to just £1 per hour for up to five hours. And the new Regent car park is open at the bottom of Woodbridge Road - with the same tariff for up to three hours.
And there is more to do in Ipswich than shop - enjoy the many bars and restaurants and the seasonal entertainment. Ipswich Choral Society hosts "Ipswich Sings Christmas" at the Corn Exchange on Saturday night. www.ipswichregent.com.
Disabled (Blue) badge-holders can drive through the town centre on Sunday 16th December to enjoy the lights between 7pm and 9pm.
