New Recycling Initiative WEEE-ly Successful!
Published Wednesday 6th February 2013
The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) bin in the car park of the Railway Pub, Foxhall Road has proved to be a great success in its first month.
During December, 55kg of small electrical items were placed in the specially designed bin and sent for recycling. Each year many electrical items are needlessly landfilled - these items could all be recycled and the materials recovered.
To help you recycle your small electrical items, a second WEEE bin is now in place at Vinnecombe Court, Cambridge Drive. This bin can be used for your broken and unwanted small electrical items, but please remember - no televisions, fridges or light bulbs, and no general waste or other types of recycling. These items can all be recycled by either taking them to your nearest Household Recycling Centre, or by contacting Ipswich Furniture Project, who can collect certain large electrical items for free - even if they are broken! To arrange a collection call them on 01473 404004.
For more recycling information please contact the Waste and Recycling team on 01473 432099.
