Opportunity for businesses to be part of Ipswich’s Waterfront Food Festival
Published Thursday 28th February 2013
Discounted trading pitches are being reserved for local businesses that would like to be part of an exciting new event in Ipswich this May.
The Waterfront Food Festival will be held at Orwell Quay on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, featuring a line up of regional, national and international hot and cold foods, a beer festival, wine seminars & tastings and, on centre stage, cookery demonstrations from a TV celebrity chef who will share the kitchen with chefs from some of the region's top restaurants.
Organisers, The Market Square Group, are keen to give local food & drink producers, growers and restaurants the chance to be part of the festival and are offering 25% discount to those offering homemade/locally grown produce.
The Group's Paul Kennedy said: "We're delighted to be bringing our Food Festival Britain to Ipswich and to be working with our partners Ipswich Borough Council and the Town BID team to provide a showcase for the best foods in East Anglia. We are particularly keen to include homemade, locally sourced, seasonal fare which will sit alongside a tasty, exotic and colourful mix of food and drink from across the globe. Britain has one of the world's richest food cultures - from local cheeses and chutneys, ciders and fudges to dishes from India, Thailand, the Caribbean, South America and Europe - all providing ingredients to our increasingly varied diet. The festival will feature many of these dishes and enable visitors to learn more about the cultures behind them."
James Young, Festivals and Events Manager for Ipswich Borough Council, said "We are very excited about bringing Food Festival Britain to Ipswich Waterfront. It is a great opportunity for local producers and retailers to showcase their goods and services in one of the most vibrant parts of town."
Producers and merchants of quality food and drink as well as related items such as tableware and kitchen accessories are welcome to apply for space. Interest in this colourful and highly publicised event is expected to be high so early booking is recommended.
