Children drumming

The Jubilee Community Panel defied the wet weather by staging a special two-day event at the Westgate Ward Social Club.

Claire Prosser, Locality Community Development Officer, organised many activities, including Access to Nature, which got children to make nests so they could see just how busy the birds are in the spring.

Wellington Children's Centre and Ipswich Borough Council provided doorstep play, and professional drummer George Fothergill tapped into some top local talent in his drumming workshop session.

The event also encouraged more residents to join the Jubilee Community Panel.

Local resident and Jubilee Community Panel member Marta Rembelska took part in the drumming workshop and said: "The kids are being so confident and trying new things - who knew that by the end of today they would all be accomplished on the samba drums?"

The Jubilee Community Panel meets again on Tuesday 8th May at Westgate Ward Social Club at 10.30am. If you're interested in getting involved or becoming a member please contact Val Peacock, Ipswich Borough Council Community Development Officer on 432224 or email her at val.peacock@ipswich.gov.uk
