About Ipswich Market

Ipswich Market is a small traditional market operating Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am till 4pm located in Lloyds Arch and Giles Circus. Managed by Ipswich Borough Council, the market was given its first Royal Charter in 1317 by Edward II. 

There is a range of  goods for sale from fresh fish, local fruit and vegetables, fresh farm produce, clothing,  jewellery and cosmetics to name but a few. 

In addition, Giles Circus offers fresh bread, meats and cheeses and a range of street food from traditional burgers, bacon baps, Caribbean, Mexican, vegan and other foods from around the world differing on a daily basis.

Becoming a Trader

Requirements for Traders

  • Public Liability Insurance: Proof of insurance with a minimum coverage of £5 million.
  • Eligibility to Work in the UK: Proof required.
  • PAT Test and/or Gas Safe Certificate: If using electric or gas equipment.
  • Food Hygiene Rating: All food businesses must have a minimum 4-star Food Hygiene Rating to trade on Ipswich Market.
