Safer Streets 5
This Home Office-funded project has secured £273,300.00 to support work aiming to reduce Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in Ipswich. Actions are focussed on improving safety in public spaces and hotspot areas across the town, including small shopping parades, churchyards, riverside locations, and parts of the town centre.
Key actions include:
- New CCTV coverage and improved technology
- Crimestoppers Zones and marketing campaign
- Public marketing campaigns including messaging that ASB won't be tolerated
- Improved lighting in public spaces
- Better gating and fencing
- Dedicated youth work to change behaviours
- Street scene improvements
Funding is also boosted by contributions from Suffolk Pooled Business Rate fund, as well as support from Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Constabulary, and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The project started December 2024 and runs until March 2025.
