About a third of Ipswich’s voters are already registered for a postal vote - 4 weeks before the deadline

Ipswich has seen a large increase in the numbers who have registered to vote by post, including at the Borough Council, County Council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections to be held on 6 May.

16,963 voters were registered to vote by post in February 2021. Since then another 15,380 or so applications to vote by post have been received – meaning around a third of those registered to vote will get postal votes for the May election.

Ipswich Borough Returning Officer, Russell Williams, says: “All registered voters have been sent a form for postal voting and there is still time to register – just return your filled-in form (reply-paid envelope provided) by 5pm on 20 April, or you can go online to get another from at www.ipswich.gov.uk/elections, or call us on 01473 432000.

“If you are not yet registered to vote, you can also do this in time to vote at the May elections - just go to www.ipswich.gov.uk/elections and request a form, or call us on 01473 432000. This needs to be returned by midnight on 19 April.”
