More than 130 people attended the ActivPentathlon, one of the special events run for Ipswich people over the age of 50 who are not currently taking part in regular sport or physical activity.

The event was part of the ActivIpswich programme, a partnership between the ActivLives charity and Ipswich Borough Council, funded by Sport England and the National Lottery. It consisted of a series of taster sessions in a variety of sports, including pickle ball, squash, petanque, yoga, athletics and even Olympics-style gymnastics.

ActivLives’ Mike McCarthy said: “The response to this challenge has been brilliant. Many of the participants were amazed at the facilities and opportunities we have in Ipswich to play these sports.”

There are regular sessions on offer. To find out more telephone 01473 345350 or email mike@activlives.org.uk
