Benefits information for landlords

You are here

All payments of Local Housing Allowance (LHA) must be made directly to the tenant. However, in some special cases we can decide to pay the landlord directly instead. You can find out more about this on the LHA Payments page.

If we agree to pay the LHA to you on behalf of your tenant, you will be able to register for our Landlord Portal to view your payments online.

Information about payment dates for claimants and landlords is available on the Housing Benefit payment dates page.

Notify us of any change

A landlord receiving direct payments will be asked to repay any benefit received for periods after the tenant leaves the premises. In some circumstances a landlord may also be asked to repay any benefit if the circumstances of the tenant change.

It is important that landlord notify us if:

  • The tenant moves or changes rooms;
  • The landlord becomes aware of a change in the tenant's circumstances which might affect their benefits.
