Bin changes in Ipswich

Published6th December 2017

There are changes to bin collections in Ipswich over the festive holiday.

As crews concentrate on the extra blue bin loads generated over Christmas there will be no brown bins picked up between 25th December and 8th January.

And collections of blue bins will be a day later than your usual collection day during the week after the big day, so if your normal collection falls on Tuesday 26th December it will now be on the next day, i.e. 27th December. Wednesday collections move to Thursday, Thursday to Friday and Friday to Saturday. Please refer to the table below:

Christmas Collection Dates

Everything gets back to normal on Tuesday 2nd January.

A spokesman for Ipswich Borough Council said: “Residents recycle a lot more over Christmas, with packaging and wrapping from all those presents and that is why we make blue bins our priority. Recycling sacks are available to collect from the Customer Services Centre at the Town Hall for all that extra festive recycling. You can find all the details on www.ipswich.gov.uk and don’t forget to put your real tree out for collection with your usual brown bin collection commencing 9th January.
