Taxi drivers in Ipswich can now apply online for a new licence or renew a licence, change a vehicle or change their private hire operator.
The paper system still exists but anyone using the online service can cut out a lot of time-consuming paperwork.
The new, easy to use system enables drivers to apply for a licence, renew a licence or find out when their next DBS check, medical or vehicle test is due.
Simply email Ipswich Borough Council’s taxi team at taxi.licensing@ipswich.gov.uk and request an activation key. This will be posted to you along with some simple instructions – and you can get started.
Councillor Roger Fern, Chair of the Licencing & Regulatory Committee, said: “We have made it easier for taxi drivers by moving some key services on line. We still offer a paper-based application service but this gives drivers a 24-hour option, which can be more convenient.”
