Celebrate the hairstyles of Ipswich

Published7th February 2017

Did you have a beehive or a Beatles mop? Were mullets or mohicans the rage when you were younger or were you into a suede head look or a tight curl perm?

And what about today … are you sporting threads, a taper fade, a dyed Afro or something more radical?

Whatever your style, Ipswich Museums would like to see some of your hairstyle snaps from years gone by or those right up to date. As long as you have a passion for fashion.

A special “Twists and Turns hairstyles in art" exhibition at Christchurch Mansion will feature the best Ipswich barnets of the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s and right up to the present day.

So, if you want to join in the fun, comb through your photo albums and send in a picture.

Then, come along to the Mansion from 11am to 1pm on Friday 24th February to spot your look.

Images should be a digital format such as jpeg or tiff (no larger than 2mb). Please state who is in the picture and what date it was taken. Please send in by 22nd February to emma.roodhouse@ipswich.gov.uk

The exhibition runs until 24th September and entry is free. It’s enough to make your hair curl!
