Come and share your night with Rosie!

Community groups are being invited to “take over” Ipswich Museum for an evening.

Societies, organisations and even groups of friends have the chance to put on their own event in High Street on 2nd March, sharing this unusual space with Rosie the rhino, Wool-I-Am the mammoth and other attractions. All they have to do is to tell Museum staff their ideas and apply for a very special night and then they could win the competition.

Councillor Carole Jones, Ipswich Borough Council’s museums service portfolio-holder, said: “This is a great opportunity to do something different for two or three hours and to build closer links with our wonderful Museum. The event could be private, ticketed or fully open to the public and could take place in one room or several rooms. Talk to us and share your ideas – it is your Museum.”

So, if groups want to stage a talk, presentation or social occasion, they can run it at the Museum on 2nd March from 7pm until 9pm or 10pm. Museum staff will be on hand to support them and will also ensure the safety and security of the building, collections and visitors. The Museum will also assist with publicity for the event.

Applications must be in by 31st January. Complete a form available from museums@ipswich.gov.uk or Ipswich Museum reception.
