Coming to Ipswich by the coach-load

Published15th January 2016

Final preparations are being made to a marketing campaign to attract tour operators and coach firms to Ipswich this summer.

The Borough Council will be attending next week’s National Excursions Exhibition in London to present the town’s cultural and events offer.

This includes a concert to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, a bigger Ipswich Wheels event in Chantry Park, Music Day, the Mela and a new event on the Waterfront. Plans for next year’s Christmas Market are also under way. Last year’s festive stalls attracted 19 coaches from across East Anglia and London.

This is in addition to the all-year attractions such as Christchurch Mansion, with its internationally renowned collection of Constables and Gainsboroughs, the historic barge Victor and the Regent Theatre, which is presenting major week-long shows such as the Sound of Music, Annie and Cats.
