Community Games takes place this week

A sports event with a difference is being held in Ipswich this Friday (24th November).

The third ActivLives Community Games takes place at  Gainsborough Sports Centre and is part of the ActivIpswich sports project for people who are over 50 years old and not currently active in regular sports or physical activity.

The initiative is a partnership between ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council and is supported by Sport England and the National Lottery.

Mike McCarthy, ActivIpswich project manager, said: “These events are so much fun. The Community Games is an event for those people who thought that their sporting days were over and are run on a multi-sport format. Activities will include accessible sports such as kurling, boccia, target badminton, new age bowls, short tennis and ping pong.”

Medals will be presented by local GB Paralympic Boccia player Evie Edwards. It cost £3 to take part and refreshments will be available. If you would like to take part or find out more please contact ActivLives on 01473 345350 or email mike@activlives.org.uk
