Coronavirus Impact - Planning Applications

You are here

Ipswich Borough Council continues to operate its Town Planning and Building Control services.

We are following Government advice and have suspended all Planning & Development Committee meetings until at least 30th April. This will be kept under review, but the two meetings scheduled for 1st April and 29th April will not take place.

For further information on how this will affect the planning application process, please refer to our frequently asked questions.

My application was scheduled to go to a Planning & Development Committee, what is going to happen now?

Until further notice, all applications will be determined by planning officers, under powers delegated to them by the Council’s Constitution. Please contact your case officer to discuss the progress of your application.

I have recently submitted a planning application, will it still be reviewed within the statutory 8-week period?

Yes, where circumstances allow. If this is not possible, the planning case officer will contact you directly to discuss.

Can I still submit a planning application?

Yes, the Council is still accepting planning applications.

Applications can be submitted electronically, either through the Planning Portal www.planningportal.co.uk or via email to development.management@ipswich.gov.uk.

Any applications received via post may experience some initial delay, therefore you may receive your acknowledgment later than usual.

Can I still comment on planning applications?

Yes. Comments can be submitted online, either through the Online Planning portal using the planning reference number, or via email to development.management@ipswich.gov.uk quoting the planning reference for the application.

Will Planning and Building Control Officers still be making site visits?

Yes, however, site visits will be limited and only undertaken where they are essential (e.g. to attend a dangerous structure).

Should an officer be required to visit your site, we will contact you to make the necessary arrangements.
