Council homes service on target

Every repair job undertaken to improve Ipswich’s council houses was done on time between July and December last year, according to the Borough Council.

The 100% performance record was welcomed by housing chiefs, who also revealed that the Council processed 100% of housing applications and responded to 100% of complaints within the target dates of 20 days.

Other statistics show that 90% of telephone enquiries were answered promptly and that community caretaker assignments were all done on time.

The records are contained in the “Local Offer”, a set of performance targets agreed with representatives of the Council’s 8,000 tenants.

Councillor John Mowles, Housing portfolio-holder, said: “Performance overall stands at 93% and has improved each quarter. It is now on track to achieve the 95% target at the end of the financial year. This is a great credit to housing staff. A review of the performance measures that tenants would like to see in place for 2016/17 is now under way.”
