Published5th May 2016

The Suffolk Craft Society will celebrate its 10th birthday in Ipswich's Town Hall next month with free demonstrations and a new exhibition.

Gallery 2 is where the Suffolk Craft Society showcases and sells contemporary designer craft work by its members from all over Suffolk, plus work by specially selected guests.

To celebrate, the Suffolk Craft Society will be hosting demonstrations of craft inside Gallery 2 and on the Cornhill. These FREE demonstrations are open to the public and will take place on 18th June in the Town Hall, with printmaker Clare Curtis and weaver Liz Chester and also on 21st June, with printmaker Emma Buckmaster and textile artist Elisabeth Rutt. Out on the Cornhill on 22nd June stone carver Antonia Hockton and metal sculptor Zoë Rubens will be showing their craft skills to the public.

As well as the demonstrations, the special anniversary exhibition, “A Celebration of Contemporary Craft” will be on show in Gallery 2 from 18 June – 6 August and will feature the very best work from current members as well as welcoming back six past members: Mark Titchener, Clive Davies, Sara Paynter, Jenny Goater, Mary Crehan and Eileen Clark.

The Suffolk Craft Society is keen to welcome new visitors who are discovering Gallery 2 for the first time, as well as friends and regular supporters, to its summer events. Why not combine your visit with coffee and cake in the Town Hall Tea Room next door?
