Crown multi-storey car park is open

Published30th July 2018

It’s open! Ipswich’s new Crown multi-storey car park is welcoming customers from today (Monday).

The 541-space facility in the heart of town centre has an attractive opening offer – just £1 an hour (maximum stay five hours) and £2 after 2pm (weekdays).

This means you can come into town in the afternoon, do some shopping, have a drink or a meal, then go to the Regent or take in a film – all for a couple of pounds parking. That’s cheaper than a coffee! Entry after 8pm is free, but note that the car park is closed overnight.

The new Crown has been built, and is managed by, Ipswich Borough Council as part of its investment in the town centre.

Here are some of the benefits of using the brand new Crown:

  • Easy access to key destinations - Crown car park is next to Crown Pools and the Museum, five minutes from Christchurch Mansion and just across the road from Sailmakers Shopping Centre, Debenhams and M&S;
  • It is a pay on return car park – meaning that you don’t have to rush back if you want to stay longer than you anticipated;
  • Our friendly staff are on site to help you and there is CCTV to keep you and your vehicle safe;
  • You can choose how you pay, including a contactless (tap and pay) option;
  • Parking your car is easier – it is light and spacious and there are no columns getting in the way;
  • There are free charging points for electric vehicles.

And it’s just £1 an hour in the heart of the town centre!

Crown car park is open between 8am and 11.30pm Mondays to Saturdays, 8am to 8pm Sundays. By vehicle, access is via Crown Street / Fonnereau Road; by foot Crown is best accessed via steps next door to Crown Pools.
