Don’t lose your vote!

The Annual Canvass, which helps to determine who is on the Electoral Register, is coming to a close.

Every household in Ipswich has received a letter as part of a three-stage process and, if it was not returned, a second letter and finally a personal visit. This process identifies and ensures that individuals are on the register and if not an "Invitation to Register" is issued.

Publication of the revised electoral register will take place by 1st December. However,  you can register to vote at any time at  www.gov.uk/register-to-vote  or by contacting Ipswich Borough  Council on 01473 432533.

Why people need to register:

  • To vote - you need to appear on the Electoral Register to be able to vote in local and national elections and referendums;
  • Everybody in the UK must register;
  • Some people also register because they want to apply for credit because credit reference agencies use the register to confirm where somebody lives.
