Exhibition about Ipswich and you!

Published3rd January 2018

An exciting new exhibition, You Are Here! The Making of Ipswich, opens on Saturday (6th January) at the Ipswich Art Gallery in High Street.

This is all about you and your community – where your own piece of Ipswich fits into the story of our historic town.

You Are Here also explains where Ipswich’s treasures came from – all those wonderful exhibits in the Museum and Christchurch Mansion.

Find out about what has made Ipswich a diverse urban centre and of the peoples who have come here over the centuries and helped to shape it. Ipswich is acknowledged as the oldest English town but our story starts far earlier, in prehistoric times.

So, come along to the exhibition and join a conversation about our town’s rich and vibrant past.

Councillor Carole Jones, the Borough Council’s Museums Service portfolio-holder, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to explore our town and the part we have all played in it. It’s a great story and one that will be fascinating and fun for everyone from nine to ninety!”

You Are Here: The Making of Ipswich! runs from 6th January until 15th April. Entry is free.

The Gallery (next to Ipswich Museum) is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm and on Sundays 11am to 5pm.
