Fake calls warning

Published8th March 2018

Customers of the alarm response service HEARS are advised not to give out bank / finance details to anyone on the phone.

The advice follows a call to a customer from someone pretending to be an administrator and asking for bank card details to pay for a new pendant.

A spokesman for Ipswich Borough Council said: “This is very distressing for this resident and it has been reported to the Police. We stress that we would never ask for account details over the phone in this manner – please let us know if these cruel conmen try to strike again.”
