UPDATE: Both courses are now fully booked.
The Save A Baby’s Life programme is being rolled out in Ipswich next month as part of the Borough Council’s commitment to improving residents’ life-saving skills.
Andrew Wilesmith, Sport and Leisure Services Manager, said: “Life-saving and first aid skills are so important, as they could save a life. Things like choking can happen at any time and we want to prepare people to be able to deal with these situations. Hopefully, people will take part in these sessions and get the confidence to do a first aid course, which can make such a difference.”
The Save A Baby’s Life course, which is designed for new parents and grandparents, will teach them basic life support, looking at prevention and diagnosis and giving them an opportunity to practice these skills.
After attending the course, they will know how to deal with choking and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) as well as looking at safety around the home.
Ipswich Borough Council is organising the workshops, which take place at Whitton Sports Centre in the community room on 17th May between 9.30am and 11am and at Gainsborough Sports Centre in the community room on 24th May between 9.30am and 11am.
The sessions are free but you will need to book by phoning the sports centres on 01473 433655.
