Folk music afloat

Published23rd March 2015

The popular series of folk music evenings on the historic sailing barge Victor on Ipswich Waterfront continues on Friday 27th March.

The resident band is Hunt the Wren but all are welcome to bring their own instruments and have a go at performing, join in with other musicians or just relax and enjoy listening to the music in Victor’s cosy saloon. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Tickets are £10 and include a hot supper. They are available from Ipswich Borough Council’s Tourist Information Centre. Victor has a fully licensed bar and the folk nights are “static” events, with Victor moored outside the Old Custom House for the evening.

Sailing Barge Victor celebrates her 120th birthday this year. She was built in Ipswich and for decades carried bulk cargo between the ports on the East Coast. Details and tickets for Victor’s cruises and events are available from the Tourist Information Centre, tel: 01473 258070, email: tourist@ipswich.gov.uk.
