Crucial workers in the NHS and social care are doing vital and highly-valued work to support the most vulnerable in our society, save lives and keep our country running. To help this work to continue, Ipswich Borough Council is allowing these crucial key workers to park for free in all Borough Council pay & display car parks and in on-street pay & display bays.
Upon verification, these crucial key workers will be given access to a special online MiPermit account which enables them to register their vehicle and park for free.
A Council spokesman said: “We do not own any car parks near Ipswich Hospital but we know that many crucial NHS staff work out of other centres or visit patients in their own homes across the town. We also want to assist critical social care workers as much as we can.”

Please note, this concession is only available to crucial key workers employed by the NHS or in social care.
Crucial key workers can park in these locations for as long as necessary. Each registered stay will expire at 23.59 that day and staff will need to register another stay for 8am the following day.
Once your account has been set up you will be able to register your free stay in two ways.
Log into the MiPermit app and select ‘SEARCH’. In the ‘Where do you want to park’ box type the special location code 813036. Follow the rest of the instructions on screen. Your vehicle is then registered to park for that day.
Visit www.wanttopark.com/ipswich and log into your account.
Click on ‘PAY FOR SPECIAL PARKING’ and then select ‘813036 – Critical Care Worker’ in the drop-down box. Select when you would like your stay to start and the free tariff followed by ‘Create Stay’. Your vehicle is then registered to park for the day.
