Free Summer Holiday iCards for young people return to Ipswich

Published24th June 2022

We are excited to announce the return of the Free Summer Holiday iCard for 2022!

This summer, between Monday 25 July and Wednesday 31 August, children and young people aged 5 to 16 years old by the 31 August 2022 and that live or attend (any) school in IP1, IP2, IP3 and IP4 will once again get free access to a variety of activities on our summer holiday activity programme.

Over 300 activities will take place across our facilities and parks, including Xtreme Active, Junior Jet Skis and Sea Scooters, Summer Camps, our disability-friendly activity camps and much more. Free swimming will also return this year at Crown Pools.

The Disability Sports Camps return with additional caring capacity to ensure they are accessible to more young people living with a disability.

The camps will also have free lunches offered to those children on free school meals.

The Free Summer Holiday iCard programme was established in 2018, delivering the largest free to access summer sports and activity programme of its kind in England. The programme is designed to get the young people of Ipswich active over the summer holidays and provide safe and positive spaces for young people to access during this period, providing positive activity.

The Council will be working with a range of partners including Ipswich School of Dance, Ipswich Town Community Trust, Ipswich Boxing Club and many others to deliver an exciting range of activities.

More information and eligibility can be checked and how to apply on the Ipswich Fit website.

Cllr Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Sports, says:

“We are delighted to be launching the summer sports activity programme. We really want young people in the town to have a great time in safe and welcoming spaces offering a wide range of experiences, old and new. I am really pleased that Ipswich Borough Council is once again helping our young people get active and have a great summer through our iCard!”
