Free tennis sessions for women and girls

Published30th June 2017

Wimbledon starts next week and there is no better time to pick up a racquet in Ipswich!

New coach-led sessions are proving popular with people of a wide range of ages and abilities.

Women and girls have their own regular classes at Northgate Sports Centre on Tuesday evenings – and Ipswich Borough Council is waiving the usual fees during Wimbledon fortnight.

The classes are being held under the banner “This Girl Can” and take place at 6.30pm. For 4th and 11th July, the sessions are FREE!

They will offer top level coaching in a fun, game orientated environment. Don’t miss out! Contact Northgate Sports Centre on 01473 433655.

The initiative is part of the Council’s Ipswich Fit campaign, which also offers sessions for Juniors at 5.30pm on Tuesdays at Northgate.

There are also regular Tennis For Free sessions on Saturday mornings in Christchurch Park – for all ages and abilities and led by local coaches.

Tennis For Free is exactly that – free courts and free equipment. These family sessions are suitable for ages four-plus.

Tennis For Free is a charity working with Ipswich Borough Council, Ipswich Sports Club and the LTA to provide free weekly fun tennis sessions for all the community.
