Get on target with an archery taster course

Published20th June 2017

Have you ever fancied yourself as a bit of a Robin Hood with a bow and arrow? Well now is your chance to learn how to shoot an arrow properly with ActivLives.

Taster courses are coming up in Ipswich as part of the ActivIpswich project, a sports initiative targeted at those over the age of 45 who are not currently taking part in regular sport or physical activity.

The programme is a partnership project between ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council, and is funded by Sport England and the National Lottery.

“We held our first archery taster back in March and the feedback was fantastic with so many people being prepared to come along and have a go at a new sport and enjoy the challenge”, said Mike McCarthy, from ActivLives.

Participants don’t need any previous experience as equipment and specialist tuition will be provided. Each session will be held outdoors, with a charge of £4 per session which includes a cuppa and a biscuit.

The four-week courses start on Monday 26 June at Gainsborough Sports Centre. There a small number of places remaining, so if you would like to find out more about the course and how to book your place, please email mike@activlives.org.uk or telephone on 01473 345350.
