Want to learn how to play blues harmonica? Jazz singing or jazz improvisation? Circle dancing? African drumming? The Brazilian martial art dance, Capoeira?
As part of the free entry Global Rhythm and Ipswich Jazz Festival in Christchurch Park on Saturday 2 July, you can join in workshop sessions on these and many more topics.
The workshops run alongside the five stages of live jazz, blues, world and Caribbean music featuring top names from the music scene in the UK and internationally.
Grab your picnic blanket and enjoy this wonderful free entry festival in the glorious surroundings of the award-winning Christchurch Park. All the live music in the park is free and most workshops are free whilst a few will cost just £10. There will also be craft and food stalls and a mini fun-fair.
This festival forms part of Ipswich Music Weekend with satellite events in the evening. Ipswich Music Day, from Ipswich Borough Council, with opportunities for local bands to perform on the six stages of live entertainment is the following day and is the UK’s biggest free one-day music festival.
All in all, it’s a spectacular weekend packed with live music.
Cllr Sophie Connelly, Portfolio Holder for Events at Ipswich Borough Council, says:
“Ipswich is the place to be for all music-lovers this summer with Ipswich Music Weekend featuring this great event and much more. All we need is great weather to make this a perfect weekend.”
The Global Rhythm and Ipswich Jazz Festival programme can be found on the Ipswich Jazz Festival website. You can also buy workshop tickets via this website.
