An Ipswich park has won a coveted national award.

Holywells Park scooped top place in the Civic Voice Design Awards public realm category.

Councillor Philip Smart, Environment portfolio-holder at Ipswich Borough Council, paid tribute to all who helped make Holywells such a success.

"This award is a wonderful way to acknowledge the work done in restoring the park, its listed Grade II buildings and securing its future use. I am delighted that our investment in Holywells as a flagship park had been recognised.

"The park is much loved by visitors who have told us how pleased they are with the improvements we’ve made thanks to the HLF, the Big Lottery Trust and investment from the Friends."
