Ipswich gets Clean For The Queen

Published4th March 2016

Ipswich has joined the great Clean For The Queen campaign.

The national Clean For The Queen weekend started today and the Mayor, Glen Chisholm, said: "It was good to see different groups getting involved so Ipswich can honour Her Majesty’s long reign and birthday and help spruce up our town for the benefit of us all."

Borough Council Leader David Ellesmere and colleague Carole Jones got stuck in with special pickers to clear rubbish from the corner of Commercial Road near Stoke Bridge. They were joined by council officer Peter Ling.

Schoolchildren from Whitehouse Primary also took part today – making sure their playground looked fit for … well, a Queen.

Other groups and organisations are taking part over the weekend.
