The Ipswich Housing Strategy 2017-2022 has been developed in dialogue with a range of stakeholders in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Its purpose is to explain how the Council's housing services will contribute effectively to meeting the needs and aspirations of Ipswich's local communities, as well as the Council's role in relation to wider community strategies, sub-regional, and national strategies and plans.

Your council is delighted to bring this strategy forward, concentrating on four priorities:

  • Enabling building of houses of all tenures
  • Improving the quality of existing housing, especially private rented
  • Meeting the housing needs of all communities and meeting the challenges of an ageing population
  • Prevention of homelessness and rough sleeping
