Ipswich loves its local market!

Published20th March 2015

Ipswich Cornhill Market will be joining over 900 markets across the country by taking part in Love Your Local Market and to celebrate it will open every day of the week from 13th and 19th May.

The Love Your Local Market campaign ran for the first time in 2012 in response to nationwide concerns for our high streets and town centre. It serves to build affection and support for markets, by enhancing their status within the local community and highlighting the importance of markets as community assets.

The Cornhill in the town centre has been the hub of Ipswich life since at least the Saxon era. In ancient times it was a marketplace where the people of the region would come to buy and sell produce.

The market still has traditional stands, where you can purchase bread, cheese, fish and meat. However we are seeing increasing amounts of stands selling clothes, jewellery, sweets and fresh produce.

Come along to the Cornhill between 13th and 19th May and show how much you 'Love Your Local Market' every day of the week!
