Ipswich Regent Theatre is ‘Good To Go’ for its upcoming Autumn season

Published12th August 2021

Ipswich Borough Council’s Regent Theatre has acquired Visit England’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ status ahead of its jam-packed Autumn season of shows.

‘We’re Good To Go’ is the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, including carrying out a COVID-19 risk assessment and putting processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

The measures that have been put in place by the theatre include:

  • Enhanced cleaning in all public areas
  • Audiences strongly encouraged to wear masks in all public areas
  • Contactless payments are available at all our bars
  • NHS Test & Trace QR Codes available to scan on arrival
  • Hand sanitising stations located across the venue
  • Improvements to the building's air ventilation system
  • Customers with COVID symptoms / positive test / self-isolation are advised to not attend the venue.

The Regent Theatre is currently getting ready to open for its 2021 Autumn season, starting with the popular tribute act Rumours of Fleetwood Mac on Saturday 21 August, followed by a week-long run of the smash-hit musical Hairspray, starring Brenda Edwards and Norman Pace, from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 August.

Other acts coming the Regent Theatre include: music from Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Fisherman’s Friends, The Waterboys, Collabro, Billy Ocean, Amy McDonald, Jools Holland, and BBC’s Sound of the 60’s with Tony Blackburn; comedy from Chris Ramsey, Ross Noble, John Bishop, Rhod Gilbert, Mo Gilligan and Joel Dommett; and evenings with Rob Brydon, Engelbert Humperdinck, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and Nigella Lawson.

Cllr Sarah Barber, Ipswich Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Town Centre, said: “I am delighted that the Regent Theatre has been awarded this mark of confidence by Visit England as it prepares to open to the public for its Autumn season – its first full season of shows since 2019!

“Since we reopened for the first show in July, I’ve been pleased to hear the responses from audience members who are happy with the measures we have put in place to keep audiences safe so they can enjoy their visit without worry.

“With so much to choose from this season, we hope to see you at a show very soon.”

The theatre is looking forward to announcing more details about its Christmas pantomime very soon. For more information, and to make sure you are added to their email and distribution lists, visit www.ipswichtheatres.co.uk
