Last chance to attend Local Plan exhibitions

Published19th February 2015

The last two Local Plan consultation drop-in sessions are being held this Friday and Saturday (20th and 21st February) from 11am - 4pm in Ipswich Town Hall.

The Local Plan will set the framework for how Ipswich is set to develop in the future – so if you want to find out more about proposed sites for housing and employment, as well as plans to protect and enhance Ipswich’s assets, this is your chance.

The Local Plan is made up of two documents – the Core Strategy and Site Allocations.

The Borough Council wants to gather as many opinions as possible on the documents, which will help to determine how future planning applications are dealt with. Following previous consultations last year, the documents have now reached the “proposed submission stage”, which means these are the versions that it wishes to adopt.

Councillor Carole Jones, the Council’s Portfolio-holder for Planning, said: “These documents are key to shaping the future of Ipswich and will guide and support economic growth while also protecting and enhancing the town’s important assets. This consultation is an important stage in finalising the strategy, which we look forward to implementing over the years to come. I hope people will take this last opportunity to comment on the documents before they are placed before the Government’s Planning Inspector.”
