Litter-pick challenge

Published24th January 2018

Community groups in Ipswich are being urged to join a new ‘clean up’ campaign by undertaking litter-picks in their areas.

Planet Suffolk has been launched across the county by BBC Radio Suffolk and the Borough Council has pledged its support.

The Council spends hundreds of thousands of pounds picking up litter and removing fly-tipped waste and has always encouraged help from a wide range of community organisations.

“We have also had groups of friends joining in to help make our town cleaner,” said Waste Policy Team Leader Glynis Wood. “We have litter-picking packs and hi-vis jackets in storage here; let’s get them out there and show what Ipswich can do.”

The Council is also supporting the Great British Spring Clean event , which is taking place 2nd to 4th March.

So, if you are keen to clean email Glynis.wood@ipswich.gov.uk with details of when and where you would like to take part. All equipment will be provided.
