Mum’s the word for new empowering programme

Published4th April 2017

A new programme for young mothers in north-east Ipswich gets under way this month.

"More Than Mum" is designed to support young mothers who might have lost confidence to get back into work, education or training or to simply work out their next steps.

The three-month programme runs during term time on a weekly basis for mums living in north-east Ipswich. Sessions are free for participants and are open for any mother aged between 16 and 30.

Starting at the end of April, "More Than Mum" will build participants’ confidence, improve their communication, team working, presentation organisation and planning skills.

The programme was part-funded by Ipswich Borough Council’s North East Area Committee.

Organiser Kim Trotter, MD of Future Female Society, said: "Becoming a mother is a significant life change and can often leave women feeling isolated and wondering what the future looks like for them. As their children get older the thought of going back to work or changing direction is often accompanied by a lack of confidence. This programme is designed to help restore confidence, to develop key skills and to map out the future they want."
