New digital signs displaying spaces available make car-parking easier in Ipswich

Published23rd May 2022

It is now easier to find somewhere to park in Ipswich with the installation of five new digital traffic signs around the town. These signs give details about how many spaces are available in some public car-parks in the centre of town.

The signs are also of environmental benefit; they reduce unnecessary journeys looking for somewhere to park and so improve air quality.

Cllr Sophie Connelly, Portfolio Holder for Parking at Ipswich Borough Council, says:

“These signs will help people see where car-parking is available when they are on their way into town. They are there to help people get quickly to where they want to go and this is part of the work the Council are doing to make the town centre even more attractive and to assist the increasing number of those travelling to the centre of Ipswich. These signs have also been installed for their environmental benefits of reducing journeys and making air quality better.

The signs are located in Argyle Street, Fore Hamlet, Handford Road, Norwich Road and Princes Street.
