New high-tech hub at UCS

Published28th April 2016

Building work to create a £5.5 million high-tech hub at University Campus Suffolk is well under way.

The Atrium at UCS’s West Building will open for students in the autumn and will house the Ipswich Waterfront Innovation Centre which has been made possible thanks to a £1.85 million grant by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership as part of its Growth Deal with the Government.

The Atrium will be known for bringing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects together. Combined with the James Hehir Building on the Waterfront, The Atrium will further increase UCS’ provision in this growth sector.

The Innovation Centre will provide a space for small businesses and will feature an “ideas room” designed by Interior Architecture and Design students at UCS.

The Atrium project is supported by Ipswich Borough Council.
