Ipswich Borough Council’s vision for housing over the next five years is to be considered by Executive at its next meeting on Tuesday 10 September.
The adoption of the Housing Strategy and Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy 2025 – 2030 will support the Council in delivering an effective future for the housing service.
Five key priorities within the strategy include providing a high-quality advice service, a focus on early prevention, working with our partners to end rough sleeping, facilitating access to suitable accommodation, and building and maintaining partnerships that support residents.
Having already consulted with partner organisations which have a direct or indirect role in Homelessness and Rough Sleeping services within Ipswich, as well as a task and finish group being set up to review the outcomes of the existing Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, the report recommends consulting with the public. If agreed, the consultation will run from 10 September to 8 October, with people invited to take part in an online survey.
Councillor Alasdair Ross, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Housing, says:
"Our intention to consult on the updated Housing and Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategies is a crucial opportunity for us to hear directly from the people of Ipswich. It is vital that we understand the views and concerns of our community as we work towards ensuring safe, affordable, and quality housing for all.
“This reflects our commitment to adapt to the rapidly changing housing sector, and by inviting feedback, we aim to collaborate effectively with our partners and residents. Your input will be invaluable in helping us enhance housing standards, support vulnerable populations, and build a stronger, more resilient Ipswich for everyone.”
