New season of top shows

The latest Regent Theatre and Corn Exchange brochure is out – highlighting a new season of top shows which will appeal to everyone.

Those highlights include this year’s pantomime, Jack & The Beanstalk (16th Dec-2nd Jan), which is sure to get the whole family giggling. This fantastic festive treat is perfect for kids aged two to 102! The star cast includes George Sampson (Britain’s Got Talent winner) as Jack, Emmerdale’s Roxanne Pallett, Connor Byrne(Tracy Beaker) and back by popular demand, the hilarious Andrew Fleming.

Love musicals? No need to trek all the way to London – catch West End musicals on your doorstep this autumn with Grease (2nd-7thOctober) and Million Dollar Quartet (20th-25th November). Hit 70s musical Grease stars The Wanted’s Tom Parker, Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Hope and EastEnders’ Louisa Lytton.

Million Dollar Quartet, meanwhile, transports you to Memphis, Tennessee and tells the story of how four Rock’n’Roll icons (Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins) got together and changed music forever. Singing and acting legend Martin Kemp joins the cast as legendary record producer Sam Philips.

Live music fans are well catered this autumn too. Catch Killer Queenin their extraordinarily energetic portrayal of one of the world’s greatest bands, or enjoy the famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with their new concert, ‘From Russia With Love’. Sister Act Live Choir (23rd September), meanwhile, offers something a bit different: a choir made up of 25 gospel singers and full band will accompany the on-screen nuns with live performances of songs from the film soundtrack. It’s enough to make you say “hallelujah!”

In need of a good laugh? There’s top comedy talent aplenty at the Regent and Corn Exchange over the coming months! Join edgy rebelRussell Brand on 4th December, Joel Dommett on 28th September or Sean Kelly and the Stars of Storage Hunters on 1st October.

And announced for next year are smash hit musicals Son Of A Preacher Man, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Flashdance,Blood Brothers,  Crazy For You and Sunset Boulevard.

Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council’s Deputy Leader, said: “We are attracting the biggest names to the Regent and Corn Exchange and providing audiences of all ages and from all over the county with top comedy, musicals, concerts and great live music.”
