Night at the Museum

Around 100 Brownies from Ipswich took part in Ipswich Museum’s first ever sleepover, experiencing their very own night at the museum.

The Brownie guides from the West Ipswich division, aged between seven and 10 years old, took over the Museum in High Street for an evening of crafts, music and storytelling which counted towards their World Cultures badge, before settling down for the night among the animals and objects in the galleries.

In the morning they were also presented with exclusive sleepover badges under the watchful eye of Wool-i-am the mammoth and Rosie the rhino, before designing their own postcards home to tell their friends and family all about their overnight adventures.

Councillor Carole Jones, Museums Service portfolio-holder, said: “Our staff work really hard to ensure that our treasures are enjoyed by the community and it was great to see this new and important group of youngsters spend a night in High Street.”
